He opens the show, seen Saturday, Dec. 22, with the word “obsessed,” and before he’s finished saying it, that feeling is made flesh: The bugged-out but fiendish eyes of a loon who knows his looniness makes him powerful; a tensed, tight physicality that threatens to explode like a snake nut can.

That cut would have stopped the fight even if Nelson hadn’t got the submission I think. Mic time for Nelson, who says the end was what he thought but the fight was a scrap all the way through. He says he got a little off balance from some of the damage but eventually he got on top and finished things. He talks through the reversal from the first round and plans on being more safe in that position in the future. We get a replay of the finish, that’s a horrible amount of blood that just came flowing from Oliveira’s face, and Nelson talks us through the finish to close his interview.

Unfortunately, the hole began to seep water in pretty short order and had to be abandoned. After the machines were driven to another site, more digging ensued, first with the 420F backhoe and then the excavator. The second hole was more fruitful: It exposed timber from a previous exploration and was deemed a significant discovery. Because any treasure at that location was apt to be buried deep below where the equipment can reach, the machines were parked for a while.
Val Venis made his return (after surgery and creative having nothing for him) with his old gimmick and an impressive physique. He held his own against Austin long enough for Test to make the assist. They double teamed on The Rattlesnake, but Austin was too strong and eliminated both men before the countdown clock reached zero. Next up? A completely drenched .. and dripping like a waterfall Triple H. He was returning to action after being out over eight months with a torn left quadriceps injury.
